Peaceland Foundation Continues Support for Cambodia's Landmine Clearance Efforts

On April 4, 2023, Peaceland Foundation was invited to participate in Cambodia's Meeting of Technical Working Group on Mine Action, where Ly Thuch, Minister of State and Vice Chairman of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), commended Peaceland for its contributions. Since 2018, Peaceland has actively supported landmine clearance efforts in Cambodia, playing a vital role in improving community safety and well-being.

Between 2020 and 2022, Cambodia cleared approximately 420 square kilometers of landmines nationwide. In 2023, Cambodia aims to clear about 411 square kilometers of landmines, guided by Hun Sens Mine Action Plan and supported by various development partners, with the goal of achieving a mine-free Cambodia by 2025.

Mr. Ke Wang, Chairman of Peaceland Foundation, affirmed Peaceland’s commitment to continue supporting landmine clearance operations in Cambodia, with a focus on improving the daily lives of more local residents. Additionally, Chairman Wang and Wenzhi Liu, Director of Peaceland’s Cambodian Office visited Senate Secretariat and the  Cambodia-China Friendship Association, where they engaged in productive discussions.

On-site, the Peaceland team held in-depth technical exchanges with APOPO and Cambodian Mine Action Center, exploring innovative methods like mine detection rats to enhance clearance efficiency and finalize the next steps in their landmine clearance plan. Peaceland also donated supplies to a school in Banteay Srei District, Siem Reap Province, highlighting its commitment to education and community development.
