During the Action Day of the Summit of Future at the United Nations, Peaceland Foundation hosted the side session "Path to an Inclusive Future" in collaboration with multiple organizations in China Pavilion. This event attracted over 70 youth leaders, representatives from NGOs, government agencies, think tanks, enterprises, and financial institutions from around the world. They engaged in in-depth discussions on two major themes: "Inclusive Digital Futures" and "Empowering Youth: Green Impact and Sustainable Futures."
Ms. Lynette Mwende Ndile, Deputy Ambassador of Kenya to China, provided insights into the collaborative development between Africa and China in sectors such as agriculture, highlighting the crucial role of youth innovation in this process. Ms. Peng Yijie, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of Ant Group, showcased how technology in the digital age can promote green practices, using the example of Ant Forest to demonstrate a win-win scenario for carbon reduction and ecological benefits.
Ms. Liu Xiaochang, Senior Expert at the China International Exchange Association, introduced environmental education programs designed for youth, aiming to enhance students' awareness and sense of responsibility toward environmental protection through specialized courses, dialogues, and practical activities. Tristan Ace, Chief Collaboration Officer of the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), highlighted the significance of a just energy transition in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the accompanying environmental and economic challenges.
Ms. Xie Yuanyan, President of Global Youth Philanthropy, urged a focus on Youth Power to collaboratively build a sustainable future. Tuqa Alibadi, a youth senator from the United States in 2023, examined the impact of the digital age on today's youth. Young representatives shared their valuable insights and experiences in areas such as art, technology, and environmental protection, highlighting the significant role of youth in driving change.
At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Hu Bo, Founder of the Beijing Yuanmeng Public Welfare Foundation, and Ms. Qiu Lili, Founder of the Peaceland Foundation, presented protective equipment for journalists to the youth representatives and announced the formation of the Youth Voice Journalist Group. This initiative aims to provide a platform for young people to express themselves and promote social action. The event offered valuable solutions and pathways to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostered global cooperation, and inspired countries to collaborate toward a more inclusive, just, and green future.
