From May 24 to 27, the China-ASEAN Sister Cities ‘Hand-in-Hand’ Emergency Management Initiative, co-organized by Peaceland Foundation, was successfully held in Vientiane, Laos. As a key effort under the Belt and Road International Cooperation Mechanism for Disaster Prevention and Emergency Management, the initiative aimed to strengthen Laos’ emergency response capabilities and disaster relief skills.

The event was co-organized by Peaceland Foundation and China’s National Disaster Reduction Center under the Ministry of Emergency Management, with strong support from the Chinese Embassy in Laos and the Lao Ministry of Public Security. The training covered specialized topics, including disaster data collection techniques and community resilience building in disaster management, as well as practical fire emergency response drills.

At the opening ceremony, representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Laos and Lao government officials emphasized the importance of enhancing emergency rescue capabilities. During the training, the Chinese delegation also visited institutions such as the Friendship Hospital and the local Fire Department to discuss future collaboration on rescue capacity building. At the program’s conclusion, Peaceland Foundation donated fire rescue equipment to the 1628 Rescue Team to support local emergency response efforts.
