Peaceland Foundation Participates in HNPW 2024 and Hosts Two Side Sessions

From May 6 to 10, 2024, Peaceland Foundation participated in the Humanitarian Networks & Partnerships Weeks (HNPW 2024), hosted by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva, Switzerland. The event convened global professionals to explore advancements and collaborative strategies in humanitarian aid.

During the HNPW, Peaceland Foundation hosted two thematic side sessions named Advancing Climate Action and Humanitarian Assistance for A Sustainable Future and Shared Innovations for Humanitarian: Leveraging Partnerships and Technologies to Response Disasters in the Era of Anthropocene. These sessions engaged over 100 participants from UN agencies, government departments, the private sector, NGOs, academia, and youth representatives.

The side sessions featured a keynote by Ms. Sarah Muscroft, Director of the Response Support Branch at OCHA, who urged global stakeholders to actively engage in humanitarian efforts in response to escalating climate needs. Peaceland Foundation founder Ms. Lili Qiu stressed the significance of building global collaborative networks, while Professor Qiang Zhang provided insights into China's emergency management practices. Mr. Giuseppe Saba, CEO of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasized the vital role of sustainable supply chains in climate crisis response. Mr. Benjamin Safari, Chief of Supply Chain Management Services at UNHCR, discussed aligning humanitarian supply chains with sustainable development goals. Mr. Wallace S. Cheng, Director of Impact and Innovation at Globethics, examined the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in humanitarian aid, including disaster detection, response, and assessment. The participation of youth representatives highlighted the crucial role of intergenerational cooperation in tackling climate change.

The annual HNPW conference served as a vital platform for advancing global humanitarian innovation and collaboration, fostering meaningful exchanges and cooperation across various sectors.
