Peaceland Foundation Donates Solar Equipment in Tanzania, Lighting Up 350 African Homes

Date: 16 April, 2024

Africa faces a severe electricity shortage, with approximately 600 million residents lacking access to power as of 2018. Recognizing that energy access is a critical survival issue for local communities, Peaceland Foundation's Tanzania office partnered with Shenzhen Poweroak Newener Co., Ltd. (Bluetti) to launch the Lighting an Africa Family Initiative, providing solar home systems to impoverished families in sub-Saharan Africa.

From November to December 2023, Peaceland Foundation installed solar equipment for 100 households in the Poli district of Kilimanjaro. On April 16, 2024, a donation ceremony at Rockland Primary School in Arusha City expanded the initiative to a total of 350 households and schools. These solar systems not only provided essential lighting but also enabled the charging of electronic devices, greatly enhancing the quality of life for local residents.

Beneficiaries have reported significant improvements in their daily lives due to the solar equipment, especially for students and the elderly. A grandmother in Poli shared that her grandson no longer needs to go to a neighbor’s house to do his homework. A young single resident expressed his joy at being able to charge his radio at home. Charles, the principal of Rockland Primary School, thanked the Chinese organization for the support, noting that it has not only assisted student families but also addressed the school's power shortage issues.

This project not only brings light to African homes but also demonstrates the positive role of Chinese companies in international social responsibility, contributing to global sustainable development.
